about

The Curse is a song about feeling like the universe is against you, trying to sabotage your every endeavour despite your best efforts to achieve something. The feeling of being just a little too late, or pipped to the post, and having to start over again. To demonstrate this, it references the individual struggles of trying to be creative in an oversaturated industry, focusing on the internal fortitude required to not only persevere but to enjoy creativity for its own sake. By making these fears and inadequacies into a character, we wanted to show how powerful this feeling of being Cursed can seem, and the importance of recognising and accepting it as part of yourself.

lyrics

It's not fair, no
They don't care, no
Didn't get to say it
‘Cus it's already been said
Like someone found the password
To the vaults inside my head

What am I missing?
Did I make this up?
Always a few steps behind
Like we're all out of luck
When every path we find
Sees us fall into line
It’s not hard to see why we keep losing our lifelines

But still we try

Just feels like something isn't right
Can't help but wonder
If I messed up in another life
Is this bad luck or are we
Just living in a nightmare?
Living in a nightmare?
Just give it up, been long enough
Can anybody tell me what we're doing wrong?
Is it just bad luck?
I can't keep living in a nightmare
Living in a nightmare

Guess we're playing the underdog
We got something to prove
Guess we're doing this the hard way
We got nothing to lose

But I'm afraid
This is a curse I can't break
A toll I can't take
A hex that I can't shake

Didn't get to do it
‘Cus it's already been done
Maybe next time
Better think of another one

And still I try

Just feels like something isn't right
Can't help but wonder
If I messed up in another life
Is this bad luck or are we
Just living in a nightmare?
Living in a nightmare?
Just give it up, been long enough
Can anybody tell me what we're doing wrong?
Is it just bad luck?
I can't keep living in a nightmare
Living in a nightmare

And we work so hard
Just to get left in the dark
Just to do it all over again
Just to follow the trends

Still we work so hard
Just to get left in the dark
Will they ever see us for who we really are?
No time to wonder when we’ve come so far

Just feels like something isn't right
Can't help but wonder
If I messed up in another life
Is this bad luck or are we
Just living in a nightmare?
Living in a nightmare?
Just give it up, been long enough
Can anybody tell me what we're doing wrong?
It's just bad luck I can't keep
Living in a nightmare
Living in a nightmare
